If your desire to rehome your dog is due to a behavioral issue, please consider contacting a qualified trainer or veterinary behaviorist. We can offer recommendations for qualified professionals within the Greater Toronto Area. With the right support, many families are successfully able to correct and manage the unwanted behavior.
The training industry is unregulated and unfortunately, there are a lot of “bad” trainers out there who may be doing your dog more harm than good. If your current trainer is not working for you, please allow us to recommend another. There is no cookie-cutter formula and some dogs/families may go through one or two trainers before they find the right one.
If your reason for rehoming is housing, know your rights! Contact your local Landlord and Tenant Board to learn more. You might also want to consider offering your landlord a refundable pet deposit to alleviate their concerns. If you are open to moving, target smaller buildings or private rentals that have flexibility in their policies.

Program Acceptance
Acceptance into our surrender program is dependent upon a number of factors, but primarily upon the availability of a suitable foster home. We are not professional dog trainers nor do we have a boarding facility. We are a 100% foster based rescue that relies on volunteer foster families to care for our dogs. Our experienced foster homes are often few and far between and for this reason, if you are surrendering your dog for serious behavioral issues, your wait time may be long. It may also be contingent upon a professional behaviour assessment at your cost.
This form will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please fill it in with as much detail as possible. Note that completing this form does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
