Eros (Foster-to-Adopt)
Eros is available for Foster to Adopt!
***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***
As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Welcome to the Eros Tour! This little god of love is active, full of life, and very ready to meet his forever family. Eros is a cuddle bug who is sweet, playful, and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. Eros has a big personality and a big heart. He is game for just about anything, whether it is heading out for a sniffy walk, pets and belly rubs, rolling and playing on the grass, or just chilling out on his bed. Eros is an active guy and loves walks and indoor enrichment like a snuffle mat or peanut butter kong. He is medium energy.
When getting ready for his walks, Eros will give full body wiggles to show his enthusiasm. He loves to cuddle and has little respect for personal space (in a very cute and endearing way!). He likes to snuggle under your arm and give you hugs and kisses. He is an entertaining companion and sure to bring lots of laughs. Eros may take a moment to meet and warm up to new people but once he does he is nothing but loving and attentive.
Eros currently gets two walks between 30-45 minutes each, plus play time in the backyard, potty breaks, and indoor and outdoor enrichment such as treat puzzles, frozen lick mats, or foraging games. He can pull on leash when he finds something very interesting but can be redirected. He may react to other dogs he sees on leash by crying or barking and may react to strangers by becoming tense and growling or barking, especially if strange men approach him. Sometimes he has no problem passing people on the street. His fosters are working on this will him by giving him space from strangers and redirecting his attention to them or blocking his view until he calms down.
In the house, Eros wants to be close to his people. He has been left both in and out of the crate and while he is not destructive, he is vocal and will cry and bark for up to 20 minutes. His fosters are working on this with him but his adoptive family should be prepared to continue helping him cope with this anxiety. Eros sleeps through the night on his bed in his fosters' room. Eros is working on basic training and knows sit, down, and is working on stay and recall (has not been tested off-leash). He is potty trained. His adoptive family will need to continue working on basic obedience with him.
Eros previously lived with another dog and did well with him but sometimes he can't take a hint and got in the other dog's face. He really wants to play and can't always take cues from other dogs. He would likely do very well with a playful, patient dog who can tolerate his puppy antics and show him the ropes, but would also be fine as the only dog in the home. Eros hasn't been exposed to cats and is looking for a cat-free home.
Eros' perfect family will be active and patient as he gets comfortable and builds his confidence. He would do great in a house with a backyard to run around and burn some energy. He would do well with older, dog-savvy kids (10+) but his enthusiastic style of play might be too much for smaller children. He needs a committed family who can work with him on basic obedience, and boosting his confidence. Eros has all the makings of an exceptional family pet and we can't wait for this very good boy to find his special family.
Eros is a flight risk and our top priority in his furever home is safety. His forever family must take precautions to keep him safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption.
