Meet Ford! Ford’s foster describes his as sweet and spunky!
Ford came into our care after he was found by our rescue partner in Tennessee alone with his siblings. They were very skinny when found but have since been nursed back to health. Ford is now fostered locally and is getting ready to meet his forever family.
A very sweet boy-Ford loves to snuggle and give hugs. Some of his favourite activities are chewing, running around, and playing with his foster siblings.
Ford is working on his confidence and is sometimes nervous when meeting new people (he is also spooked by his own reflection-cute!). His fosters believe he is best meeting people in his own home where he is most confident.
He has met children as young as three and did very well with them. However, he is still a puppy and proper precautions should be taken to ensure the wellbeing of all family members.
Ford is fostered on a big property with a fenced yard. He does well in this environment but would also do well on a property not as large. His fosters do not believe that he is suited for big city living.
Currently, Ford is living with two foster brothers and gets along with them very well. He would certainly enjoy the company of another dog, and his fosters believe this is the ideal situation for him. He has not yet been tested with cats.
Being a puppy, Ford has a higher energy level and requires regular exercise. He walks well on a leash and loves to run and play in the yard. He does not like going to the bathroom on his leash and will try to avoid it. He is doing very well with potty training but has had a few accidents in new environments. He is nervous on the street and gets scared easily.
Ford is working on basic training and recall. He loves his treats and learns quickly however being so young he will need ongoing support from his new family.
He has been left alone for up to four hours and has done well. He is left in his crate and cannot yet be trusted free reign as he can sometimes chew and try to ingest his toys. He sleeps well in his crate at night and settles very quickly.
Ford is a lovely boy who is waiting for his perfect forever family. We believe that with the right family, his confidence will show, and he will truly shine.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Ford’s new family will be required to:
- Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time,
this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
- Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this
stage.
- Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the
spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will
be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
