Phylis is available for Foster to Adopt!!

***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***

As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Phylis / Female / 1 years old / 23 lbs and growing / Mixed Breed / Could be a Second Dog with Proper and Slow Introductions / Good with Cats / Good with Dog Savvy, ages 12+ children / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto

Say hi to Phylis! This bundle of joy, filled with energy pup is looking for her forever home. Phylis has all the qualities you’d want in a dog, sweet, loving, a big cuddler, playful and goofy. How could you have a bad day when Phylis is around?

Sure, like the rest of us Phylis has moments of nervousness especially with strange noises outside but it’s in these moments that she looks to her confident handler to help support her and guide her to success. Phylis loves playtime, whether it's playing outside, on a walk or having enrichment in the house. She is hesitant on walks but she is gaining confidence each and every day. Phylis currently has a backyard and loves it as a safe spot to go for bathroom breaks.

Caring, affectionate and always up for a good cuddle session with her human companions, she loves being the center of attention! With that said, Phylis does co-exist with another dog right now and could be a great second dog. However, her personality would also allow her to thrive as a solo dog where she could gain all her adoptive families love and affection. Phylis was cat tested in Mexico and did well. We feel she could live with a dog-savvy cat with proper introductions.

This girl loves her crate and goes in without any hesitations. In a puppy proof space, she has also been trusted to be left alone for a few hours but Phylis loves food (don’t we all!) and she has counter-surfed before. Therefore, she will either need a crate or a puppy proof space when being left alone.

When meeting new people, Phylis is nervous until she can trust you. She isn’t hesitant to take a treat from a stranger and will warm up to new people quickly. Phylis has interacted with kids above 12. Therefore, we feel she’d do okay with dog-savvy age 12+ children. However, being Phylis, she’d also be happy in a kid free home so she can get all her adoptive parents attention.

As mentioned, Phylis loves food so it’s no surprise that this girl will do anything for treats when it comes to training. Her family will need to be committed to continuing her training and working on her impulse control, teaching her basic commands such as leave it, sit, stay, bed, crate, off and look at me. Phylis is already mostly potty trained but as she adjusts to a new home, her family may experience a few accidents. Phylis’s new family will need to set boundaries and put into place a routine for her to follow. In a home that does this, Phylis will thrive!
